Master Socket and Fault Testing

If you have a loss of broadband service which could be a fault close or within the premises.
To test this, you will need to locate the Openreach Master Socket that your router is connected to and depending on which socket you have, different steps may be required.

If you have the latest socket (Master Socket 5c for example), simply push the clips in on the either side of the socket and pull towards you. This will remove the faceplate on the from the front of socket. This will disconnect all the equipment and the cover ready for the isolated testing. The socket should look like the image below

If you have the older Master socket, If it has a horizontal split down the middle, remove the screws on the front of the socket and pull to remove the faceplate on the socket.
This will disconnect all the equipment and the cover ready for the isolated test. The socket should look like the image below.
